My ex is trying to convince me not to proceed w/ child support, what should I do?

He's trying to make me feel guilty about this I know. I had such a hard time dealing w/ being abandoned by him and I didn't file until the baby was 6 mos old. He said he is going to start helping me, but he is not a trustworthy person. This is not about revenge, but what is best for my child. I can't help but feel a little satisfaction, knowing that he's going to squirm when he has to go to court. Am I wrong for feeling this way. He wants me to call my lawyer and tell her we'll "work it out". He is such a charmer and will say anything. He almost makes me forget about how horrible he treated me and then left me to raise the baby on my own. I'm a good mom and I'm doing the best I can. The baby is thriving w/o him around. How do I stay strong and follow thru with this?
