I need help from people with green thumbs! Will this qualify as "full sun?"?

I already dug up a nice square for my garden. However, now my neighbor's tree has filled out, so that section see splotchy sun from sunrise until about 1pm. The section gets full sun from 1pm until the sun sets. Can I go ahead and plant my veggies there? Is that enough sun for them? Or do I really have to dig up ANOTHER section of my yard (please say I don't...)
